As a wedding venue owner, I could have not asked for a more beautiful wedding day for Kayla and Cody. There is something special about a September wedding in Westminster, Maryland. The summer heat begins to soften, the evenings become a little more comfortable, and the beautiful Maryland countryside provides the perfect setting for celebrating love. Kayla and Cody’s September wedding at the Historic Barn at Montagu Meadows was a beautiful example of how a couple can take a classic barn wedding and make it completely their own.

Located in Westminster, Maryland, Montagu Meadows provided the peaceful, private countryside setting Kayla and Cody were looking for. Their wedding day was filled with thoughtful details, talented local vendors, and plenty of personal touches that made the celebration uniquely theirs.

Love Story Beginnings

Kayla and Cody met online through a mutual friend. Kayla thought Cody was handsome and from there they started talking and met up and as Kayla puts it "she pursued him."

At 9 am, Kayla and her bridesmaids arrived at the bridal cottage to relax, eat breakfast and have their hair and makeup done by Vintage Beauty Salon and Beauty by Jacquelyn.

Kayla's beautiful bridal gown was purchased from June Bridals and altered by Frederick bridal. Her bridesmaid's wore Birdy Grey dresses in shades of sage green and beige. Cody wore a Navy colored suit from Country View Tuxedo and Wedding and the groomsman rented their suites from Men's Warehouse.

A Beautiful Orchard Wedding Ceremony in Westminster, MD

Kayla and Cody chose to exchange their vows in the orchard at Montagu Meadows, surrounded by the natural beauty of the property.

One of the most meaningful details of their ceremony was the hexagon arbor that stood behind them. This wasn’t just another wedding decoration; it was something Cody made especially for Kayla. The couple then added another personal touch by creating their own florals for the arbor.

The result was absolutely beautiful.

The handmade arbor and Kayla’s floral creations added so much personality to their ceremony space. It was a wonderful reminder that some of the most meaningful wedding details aren’t necessarily the ones purchased from a professional designer. Sometimes, they are the things created by the couple themselves.

Standing in the orchard beneath something Cody built and surrounded by flowers Kayla made was a beautiful reflection of their relationship and the time and thought they put into their wedding day.

A Team of Talented Wedding Vendors

Kayla and Cody brought together an incredible group of wedding professionals to help make their September celebration come together seamlessly.

Lauren from Best Day Events served as their wedding coordinator. Having an experienced coordinator helped keep all of the details organized and allowed Kayla and Cody to focus on celebrating rather than worrying about what needed to happen next.

For catering, the couple chose Mission BBQ, bringing delicious barbecue to their wedding celebration. You can always count on Mission BBQ for great food and service. Carly Ferguson served as their bartender, helping keep guests refreshed throughout the festivities. Her bartender, Carly Ferguson, not only could mix great drinks but she entertained the guests with her magic tricks.

Capturing the day was Timeless Photos and Videography, preserving the special moments through both photography and video. From the orchard ceremony to the celebration inside the historic barn, those memories will allow Kayla and Cody to relive their wedding day for years to come.

When it came time to get everyone on the dance floor, Dance Masters provided the music and entertainment.

And, of course, no wedding celebration is complete without dessert. Starry Night Bakery created the cupcakes and personal cake for the couple, adding a sweet finish to the evening.

Revive Florals served as the florist, while Vintage Beauty Salon helped Kayla and her wedding party get ready with hair and makeup services.

Personal Wedding Details Made the Day Their Own

One of the things we love most about weddings at Montagu Meadows is seeing couples put their own personalities into the day, and Kayla and Cody certainly did that.

Kayla also borrowed some special pieces from the Something Borrowed Room at Montagu Meadows. The decor gave her another way to personalize the celebration without having to purchase every piece herself.

Kayla chose Christmas ornaments as her guest wedding favor. Christmas ornaments are special to Kayla and Cody because they collect them on their travels. It reminds them of all their amazing adventures together. So why not create an ornament (wedding favor) so that everyone can remember their special day.

Their guest book was a wooden letter A that guests can sign. Their plan is to hang it in their home to remember their wedding day.

But perhaps the most memorable detail of the entire evening was Kayla and Cody’s wedding exit.

They didn’t settle for an ordinary send-off.

Kayla used a fog machine that actually lit up, creating a dramatic and incredibly fun effect as they made their exit. The glowing fog gave their final moments of the evening a unique, almost cinematic feel and it was definitely one of those details' guests were likely to remember!

The Honeymoon

After the wedding, Kayla and Cody continued their celebration by vacationing in Punta Cana, a tropical paradise. It's the perfect place romantic getaway for newlyweds to relax and enjoy each others company.

Favorite Wedding Memory

As the owner of Montagu Meadows Wedding Venue in Westminster, MD, I always love to hear about the couple's favorite part of their wedding day. Kayla had this to say, "My favorite part of the wedding was a tie between me first seeing Cody at the altar and my first dance together." One of the greatest jobs as a wedding venue owner is watching couples begin their next chaper together and creating beautiful new memories at my venue. Their love story becomes part of our history at Montagu Meadows.

A September Wedding to Remember

From the moment guests arrived at Montagu Meadows to the final glowing fog-filled exit, Kayla and Cody’s wedding was a beautiful reflection of who they are as a couple.

Their orchard ceremony, handmade hexagon arbor, Kayla’s personally created florals, borrowed decor, delicious barbecue, beautiful desserts, and creative wedding exit all came together to create a celebration that felt personal rather than cookie-cutter.

That is one of the things that makes a wedding at the Historic Barn at Montagu Meadows so special. Couples have the opportunity to create a wedding day that feels like theirs: whether that means building your own arbor, making your own flowers, incorporating family traditions, borrowing decor, or dreaming up a completely unique wedding exit.

Kayla and Cody did just that.
