  • A Sage Green Wedding in Westminster, Maryland: Sarah & Brent

Ceremony Orchard in Westminster, MD On September 27, 2025, Sarah and Brent celebrated their love with a stunning wedding at Montagu Meadows Wedding Venue in Westminster, Maryland. Montagu Meadows is known for their beautiful landscaping, rolling hills and pond views along with their historic 1850’s bank barn. This venue set the right stage for this beautiful wedding, and this couples amazing love story.  Back in March of 2023 Sarah and Brent toured and decided to get married at this Carroll County, Maryland wedding venue but their actual love story began at McDaniel College . McDaniel College is located about 4.6 miles from the venue which is just one of the reasons why this location was so special to them. Back in their college days, these two crossed paths at McDaniel because Sarah took a year off and then transferred into McDaniel her sophomore year, which just happened to be the perfect timing to meet Brent.   The Wedding Rehearsal & Dinner The couple kicked off their wedding weekend with a rehearsal at Montagu Meadows at 4:30 p.m., followed by a rehearsal dinner at the cozy and historic Maggie’s Restaurant in Westminster. It set the perfect tone for a weekend filled with love, laughter, and joy.   The Wedding Morning   The big day began at 10 a.m. in the bridal suite at Montagu Meadows. Hair was Samyi Bierman Photography capturing the bride walking towards the wedding ceremony styled by Janice Thayer of Heather Rea Style Studio (@janicedina.hairstylist, @heatherreastylestudio). The atmosphere was relaxed yet buzzing with excitement as Sarah and her bridesmaids prepared for the celebration ahead.   Wedding Day Looks Sarah wore the “Pocahontas” gown by Allure Bridals, purchased at Love It at Stella’s in Westminster, MD. Love It At Stellas is located 5 miles from the venue where Sarah was greeted and helped with kind, patient, friendly and attentive staff.  Sarah’s dress was timeless and elegant, perfectly complementing the sage green palette of the day. Her bridesmaids wore dresses from Azazie , each choosing a slightly different shade and style for a cohesive but personal look—Dakota in Eucalyptus, Lainey in Matcha, Bondi in Agave, and Raychelle in Dusty Sage.   Brent wore a Traveler Slim Fit suit from Jos. A. Bank , while the groomsmen Brent and his Grandmother in the orchard in Carroll County, Maryland were given free rein to find similar suits. Many picked theirs up from Men’s Wearhouse, adding to the relaxed, easygoing vibe of the day.   Wedding Ceremony in the Orchard   The couple exchanged vows in the orchard at Montagu Meadows, surrounded by family, friends, and the natural beauty of the venue. Guests were welcomed with classical covers of Disney and pop songs played by A Dance Floor Production , setting a whimsical tone.   The processional music was especially unique: the wedding party entered to the Potter Waltz from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and Sarah walked down the aisle to The Piano Guys’ version of the Jurassic Park Theme. It was the perfect blend of magic, personality, and romance.   Wedding Décor & Details   Sarah and Brent made full use of Montagu Meadows’ Something Borrowed Room, incorporating elegant décor like the gold mirror for table assignments. Inside of the 1850's wedding barn with decor from the Something Borrowed Room The bride also brought a personalized bar sign to add a personal touch.   The color palette of sage green was woven throughout the details, with bridesmaid dresses, dried florals purchased on Etsy, and subtle accents in the reception décor. Thoroughbred Transportation provided smooth and stylish travel for the day.   Wedding Food, Drinks & Sweet Treats   Guests enjoyed a mouthwatering meal by Mission BBQ , while drinks flowed thanks to Blue Ridge Bartending . For dessert, the couple treated everyone to a spread of cakes and sweets from Stonehouse Cakery . Their main cake was almond with raspberry filling—a fun twist that guests won’t forget. The mother of the bride would make this cake for Sarah growing up.   Personal Wedding Touches   Sarah and Brent rented an audio guestbook telephone, giving their loved ones the chance to leave heartfelt (and maybe funny!) messages that they can cherish forever.   Beautiful views out the barn window The entire celebration was flawlessly coordinated by Amanda Alexander Design , making sure every detail was executed perfectly. Samyi Bierman Photography was there to capture the magic, from the quiet morning moments in the bridal suite to the energetic dancing late into the night.   The Send-Off & What’s Next   After a night full of laughter, dancing, and memories, Sarah and Brent wrapped up their wedding with excitement for the next chapter of their lives. They’ll be honeymooning in Curaçao over Thanksgiving, and Sarah says she’s absolutely pumped!   Congratulations, Sarah & Brent! Your wedding was a beautiful reflection of who you are as a couple.  This wedding was full of personality, heart, and joy. Montagu Meadows was honored to host your big day. • Why Engaged Couples Should Create a Separate Wedding Email in Maryland?

Westminster, Maryland Barn Wedding Venue Wedding planning comes with endless emails including vendor contracts, RSVPs, payment reminders, and, of course, wedding registry updates. To stay organized, one of the smartest steps engaged couples can take is creating a dedicated wedding planning email address.   By creating a separate email, it keeps all your registry notifications, shipping updates, and thank-you list reminders in one place. Instead of digging through personal or work emails, you’ll have a single inbox for everything related to your big day. This makes it easier to track gifts, respond quickly to guests, and avoid missing important details.   It also ensures privacy after the wedding. Once your celebration is over, you can close the account without cluttering your personal inbox with future promotional emails from registry sites and vendors.   Pro tip: Choose a simple and recognizable address (like JonesWedding2026 @gmail.com) so it’s easy to share with guests.   In the middle of wedding planning chaos, this small step can make a big difference in keeping things stress-free and organized. • When to Send Save-the-Dates in Westminster, MD and Why They’re Essential for Wedding Planning

Save the Date & Invites for a Westminster, MD Wedding Venue Being the owner of a barn wedding venue in Carroll County, MD located 45 minutes west of Baltimore, we get to work with amazing couples from all over Maryland and Pennsylvania.  We advise couples on the entire wedding process.  When it comes to wedding planning, one of the first big steps after securing your date and location is letting your guests know when and where the celebration will be. That’s where save the date cards come in. Couples often ask: Do I really need them? The answer is yes!!  Save-the-dates are an important part of wedding etiquette that helps guests prepare for your big day.  It also lets them know early on to save the date on their calendar so there will not be any conflicts.   This blog will explain everything you need to know about when to send save the dates, who should receive them, and the different types of save the dates you can choose from.   When Should You Send Wedding Save-the-Dates?   Timing is key. The general rule is to send save the date cards 6 to 10 months before your wedding. This gives guests enough time to arrange travel, book Invitation Suite at a country wedding venue near Gettysburg, PA hotels, and mark their calendars.               •            Don’t send them too early. While you may be excited, avoid mailing save-the-dates more than a year in advance. Guests may misplace them or forget by the time formal wedding invitations arrive.               •            Don’t wait too long. Sending them less than 6 months out can leave guests scrambling, especially if they need to travel and reserve a hotel room.   The 6–10 month timeframe is the sweet spot for making sure everyone has plenty of notice without overloading them with details too soon.   Who Gets a Save-the-Date? A key wedding planning tip: everyone on your guest list who will receive an invitation should also receive a save the date.               •            If a guest receives a save-the-date, they should receive a formal wedding invitation later.               •            This means finalizing your guest list before sending save-the-dates is essential to avoid missteps.   Wedding Save-the-Date Design Tips   The design of your save the dates doesn’t have to perfectly match your wedding invitations. Many couples use them as a fun, creative way to set the tone for the wedding.   Here are some helpful wedding planning tips for your design:               •            Include your wedding website. This gives guests a central place for travel information, accommodations, and your registry.  Add a QR code to make it easy access to your website.               •            Order extra save-the-dates. You’ll want spares in case your list changes or one gets lost in the mail.               •            Get creative. Save the date magnets are a fun option that guests can stick on the fridge. Adding vintage stamps also makes for a charming, personalized touch.               •            Save money with templates. Printable or digital templates are budget-friendly alternatives to custom designs, while still looking elegant.   Types of Save-the-Dates   Westminster Barn Wedding Venue in Maryland When it comes to choosing your style, there are plenty of options for couples to explore:               •            Classic Save the Date Cards – A timeless and traditional option that fits any wedding theme.               •            Photo Save-the-Dates – Showcase your engagement photos and let guests see your personality as a couple.               •            Save the Date Magnets – A practical and popular choice; guests will see your wedding date every time they open the fridge.               •            Postcard Save-the-Dates – A budget-friendly option that saves on envelopes and postage.               •            Digital Save-the-Dates – Eco-friendly and perfect for couples who want to simplify the process or reach guests quickly by email.   Save the dates are more than just a fun announcement.  They are an essential tool in wedding planning process. By sending them out at the right time and choosing a design that reflects your style, you’ll give guests plenty of notice and set the tone for your celebration. Whether you opt for classic save the date cards, photo cards, or creative magnets, this small step has a big impact in keeping your wedding day organized and stress-free.  And hopefully 100% of your guests will be able to attend your wedding. • Planning the Perfect Wedding Reception Food Menu in Westminster, Maryland

Montagu Meadows Wedding Venue is located in Carroll County, MD Congratulations, you are engaged!  Relax, take a few days or weeks to enjoy your engagement and then let the wedding planning begin.  The first step in the planning process is to come up with list of wedding priorities and budget. Then it's time to find your perfect wedding venue such as Montagu Meadows Wedding Venue in Westminster, Maryland.  Once you have your vision, your budget, and your venue then it is time to start searching for your other vendors.  When couples imagine their wedding day, they often picture the flowers, the dress, the vows, and the dance floor. But ask most wedding guests what they remember most, and you’ll hear a common answer: the food. As a wedding venue owner located in Westminster, MD, I love seeing a thoughtfully planned reception menu that not only satisfies appetites but also adds personality and warmth to the celebration. Whether you’re dreaming of an elegant plated dinner or a relaxed buffet under the stars, here are some tips to help you plan a menu that everyone will rave about.   Start with Your Wedding Vision Before diving into vendors, step back and think about the overall vibe of your wedding. Is your celebration formal and black-tie? Rustic and casual? Seasonal Cocktail Hour Wedding Food in Westminster, Maryland and cozy? The food menu should flow naturally with the atmosphere you’re creating. A farm-to-table dinner works beautifully at a countryside barn venue, while passed hors d’oeuvres and champagne pair perfectly with a chic city wedding. Let your theme be the foundation for your food choices. Consider the Wedding Season: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer Seasonal ingredients can make your menu feel fresh and intentional. A summer wedding might highlight light, refreshing flavors like grilled vegetables, seafood, or citrusy salads. In fall, couples can lean into hearty comfort foods like roasted root vegetables, butternut squash soup, and braised meats. Winter menus might feature rich flavors such as beef tenderloin or creamy risotto, while spring brings opportunities for fresh greens, asparagus, and bright berry desserts. Seasonal dishes often taste better and can even be more budget-friendly.   Don’t Skip the Cocktail Hour The cocktail hour is your guests’ first impression of the reception, and the food here sets the tone. This is the time for variety and fun. A mix of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres ensures something for everyone. Classic options like bruschetta, crab dip, shrimp cocktail, or mini crab cakes are always crowd-pleasers, but don’t be afraid to add something unique to reflect your tastes such as sliders if you love burgers, or dumplings if you’re a fan of Asian cuisine. Cocktail hour is also a great moment to showcase local flavors, like Maryland crab if you’re celebrating in Carroll County.   Choose a Dinner Style That Fits Your Wedding When it comes to dinner, couples generally have four main options: plated, BBQ is a favorite food option at a MD Barn Wedding Venue buffet, family-style, or stations.                 •             Plated Dinner: A traditional and elegant choice, where each guest is served a pre-selected entrée. It ensures a polished experience but can be more costly.                 •             Buffet: A relaxed style allowing guests to pick and choose what they want. It works well for larger groups and encourages mingling.                 •             Family-Style: Large platters are placed at each table for guests to share. This feels intimate and encourages conversation.                 •             Stations: Multiple themed food stations (like pasta, carving, or tacos) allow guests to sample different cuisines. It adds energy to the reception but may require more space.   Choose the style that matches both your budget and your vision for the day.   Offer a Variety of Food but Keep It Balanced You don’t need ten entrée choices, but your menu should provide something for everyone. Typically, couples offer two proteins (like chicken and beef, or fish and vegetarian), along with side dishes that complement them. Balance heavier dishes with lighter options, and make sure there’s a variety of textures and flavors.   Don’t forget your vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free guests. Even if only a few have dietary restrictions, including a thoughtful alternative shows care and inclusivity.   Make Your Wedding Personal   The best menus feel like they tell part of the couple’s story. Maybe you met over tacos, so you include a taco station. Perhaps your grandmother’s famous pie recipe inspires your dessert bar. Or maybe you want to honor your cultural background by incorporating traditional dishes. Or maybe you are from a certain area of the country that are known for a tradition like the Pittsburgh cookie table. These small touches make the menu more memorable and meaningful.   End on a Sweet Note Dessert is a highlight for many guests. While the wedding cake is traditional, couples today are mixing it up with dessert tables, donut walls, cookie bars, or even late-night snacks like s’mores kits. Think about offering both classic and fun options so everyone finds something to enjoy.   Don’t Forget the Wedding Drinks Food may be the star, but drinks play a supporting role. Work with your caterer to create a beverage plan that complements your menu. A signature cocktail (or two) adds a personal touch and can be inspired by your favorite drinks, the season, or even the wedding colors. Pairing wine with dinner courses can elevate the meal, while mocktails ensure non-drinkers have something special too.   Work with Your Wedding Caterer   Maryland Wedding Venue Finally, lean on your caterer’s expertise. They’ll know how to balance flavors, portion sizes, and timing so the meal flows seamlessly with your reception schedule. Schedule a tasting to refine your menu.  This is one of the most fun parts of planning!  You and your fiancé get a day or night out while still doing wedding planning.   In the end, your wedding menu should feel like a reflection of you as a couple. Guests may not remember every decoration detail, but they will remember how the food made them feel warm, welcomed, and satisfied. By planning thoughtfully, you’ll create a dining experience that enhances the celebration and leaves everyone talking long after the last plate is cleared. • High School Sweethearts Say I Do in Westminster, Maryland

Maryland Wedding Venue Photographed by Thomas Walker Photography This was a very special wedding for owners Rob and Christina of Montagu Meadows, a barn wedding venue located in Carroll County, MD.  Rob and Christina helped to celebrate their dear friend’s son wedding on September 6, 2025 at their venue.  Watching Brandon grow up to becoming a husband was an honor.   Brandon and Ali’s love story began in high school, at a party where they first met. That chance encounter grew into something lasting, especially when they later worked together at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Westminster. From teenagers with a spark to partners for life, their journey came full circle when they said “I do” at Montagu Meadows on a beautiful Saturday in September.   Getting Ready - Wedding Morning   The cloudy morning began in the bridal suite at 10 a.m., where Ali and her family gathered to prepare for the big day. The forecast continually changed Ali relaxing in the getting ready room in Westminster, Maryland which had everyone on edge but despite the forecast changed both wedding parties enjoyed their getting ready time.  Amy Nicole Makeup and Sarah Slater Hair worked their artistry, ensuring the bride and her party looked flawless. Ali’s gown, purchased at DejaVu in Mt. Airy, MD, was breathtaking—a classic choice that radiated elegance. Her sister wore a beautiful blue dress that complemented the wedding colors perfectly.   Brandon looked sharp in his suit from Men’s Wearhouse , with his brother proudly standing by his side as best man. Ali’s brother also joined the party as a groomsman, creating a bridal party filled with family and love.   Ali and her parents walking down the aisle in the orchard in Carroll County, MD The Wedding Ceremony And guess what happened with the weather?  Brandon and Ali were able to have their dream ceremony after all.  It rained at 2:45 pm but by 3:30 pm, the cooler air and sunny skies emerged.  Ali’s dream came true as she walked down the stone path with her mother and father in the orchard to meet Brandon.  The arbor was dressed with stunning white and blue florals by Flowers by Evelyn . The bouquets echoed the same palette, tying everything together with soft romance. Thomas Walker Photography captured every detail and emotion, preserving the beauty of the Processing down the aisle and the couple stops for a kiss day through his lens.   The Wedding Reception   Following the heartfelt ceremony, guests celebrated under a tent provided by Dreamers Event Rentals and Events and in the 1850”s barn. Italian dishes from Mediterraneo Restaurant in Westminster were served, featuring pasta and flavorful sides that kept everyone happily full. Behind the bar, Adam Keller from Good Times Bartending kept the drinks flowing with ease.   The newlyweds shared their first dance as husband and wife before special dances with their parents, Ali with her father and Brandon with his mom. Later, the dance floor came alive with music by DJ Rob Johnson, who kept the energy high all night long. A surprise highlight of the evening was the Hora, a joyful Jewish tradition that had everyone cheering and dancing together. Maryland Wedding Venue - guest book Brandon and Ali had a picture of the barn on a canvas of the historic barn for guests to sign. The couple plans on hanging this beautiful canvas in their home. For years to come they will remember their dream wedding and all of the friends and family who attended. Dog Friendly Wedding Venue located in Maryland Since Ali and Brandon's pup Rosie could not make their wedding, they included her by posting her face everywhere in the wedding venue. Their Table numbers, cake, favors, and fans made Rosie the star of the wedding.   Adding to the fun, Ali’s father handed out glow sticks, which filled the dance floor with light and laughter as the celebration carried late into the night.   Finishing Wedding Touches   The couple added thoughtful details by borrowing décor from the Something Borrowed Room at Montagu Meadows, which blended seamlessly into their Historic Maryland Barn Wedding Venue vision. Their wedding colors of white and blue flowed beautifully throughout from the florals to the bridal party attire tying everything together in timeless elegance.   A Romantic Wedding Day to Remember   From high school sweethearts to husband and wife, Brandon and Ali’s wedding reflected their journey: filled with family, tradition, joy, and a love that only grows stronger with time. With this announcement, the wedding industry has something big to celebrate.  As the owner of Montagu Meadows, a barn wedding venue located in Westminster, Maryland, we are joining in on the excitement along with all the Swifties.  After all, we are in the business of celebrating love and fairytale romances.  To honor Taylor and Travis’s engagement, we feel like it is the perfect moment to look back at how Taylor’s music has been writing her love story all along.   From heartbreak anthems to dreamy ballads, Taylor’s lyrics has always taken us through the highs and lows of love. But with Travis, it feels like she’s found the one who makes her believe in eternal love. Provided by Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey via Instagram   Love Songs That Predicted This Fairytale                 •             “Love Story” – The ultimate Taylor Swift proposal song. We’ve been singing “I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress” since 2008, and now it’s happening for real. This engagement feels like a modern-day “Love Story” come to life.                 •             “You Belong With Me” – From the moment Travis shot his shot with a friendship bracelet, it was like watching this song unfold. He knew she was the one who belonged with him.                 •             “Lover” – Could there be a better soundtrack for their relationship? Lyrics like “Can I go where you go? Can we always be this close forever and ever?” now feel like a vow. • TikTok’s Best Ideas for Small, Intimate Weddings in Maryland

Intimate wedding ceremonies in Westminster, Maryland Have you been on TikTok lately? As the owner of Montagu Meadows, a barn wedding venue located in Westminster, Maryland, I recently became active on TikTok.   TikTok is becoming another go to for wedding inspiration.  What I have noticed is that small weddings are having a major impact on TikTok. TikTok is full of charming, creative, and meaningful ideas to make your intimate celebration unforgettable. Whether you’re tying the knot with just a handful of your closest people or planning a micro-wedding with 50 guests or fewer, here are some of the best TikTok ideas for making it magical. 1. A Cute, Tiny Wedding Cake (That’s Still Gorgeous) Gone are the days of towering, multi-tiered cakes for hundreds of guests. TikTok couples are embracing mini cakes that are just as beautiful but perfectly portioned for a smaller crowd. Think single-tier cakes with hand-painted flowers, real flowers, vintage piping, or personalized toppers. You can even have multiple mini cakes in different flavors!   2. Splurge on What Matters Most to You One of the biggest benefits of a smaller guest list? You can splurge on something you really care about. Whether it’s a luxury photographer, a designer dress, a live acoustic band, a harpist or upgraded florals, TikTok Carroll County, Maryland intimate weddings brides and grooms are leaning into quality over quantity. The smaller the scale, the more room in your budget for meaningful details.  And let’s face it, couples are being more practical.  They want to spend their money on house or a honeymoon.   3. Take a Group Photo with Every Guest at your Westminster Intimate Wedding At a big wedding, you might not get the chance to speak to every guest let alone take a photo with them. But with a small wedding, you can take a group photo with everyone who came! It’s a sweet way to capture the memory of your intimate day and the people who mean the most to you.   4. Go Big on Flowers (in a Small Space) One TikTok trend we love? Using florals to completely transform a small ceremony or reception area. Think lush installations on arbors or dramatic aisle flowers.   With a smaller space to decorate, you can make a big impact with your flower budget.   5. Host Dinner at One Long Table Forget the traditional round tables TikTok couples are loving the look of one long family-style dinner table for a microwedding. It creates a cozy, connected atmosphere and makes for stunning photos, especially with candles, greenery, or string lights running down the center.   6. Include Your Guests in the Ceremony With fewer people attending, you can involve them more meaningfully in your wedding. TikTok has showcased ideas like guests forming a circle around the couple during the vows, sharing advice cards to read aloud, or even participating in a group blessing or toast.   7. Personalize Everything From hand-written place cards to personalized thank-you notes or custom playlists, TikTok weddings show that intimate weddings are all about personal touches. You have the time and space to make things feel truly one-of-a-kind for your guests.   8. Record a Video Message for Each Guest TikTok is also seeing couples create short video messages for each guest (or couple) attending—thanking them for being part of the day. You can send these in advance or show them during the reception for a sweet surprise.   When it comes to weddings, small doesn’t mean less.  TikTok is proving that Intimate wedding ceremony in the orchard intimate weddings can be just as beautiful, emotional, and unforgettable as the grandest ballroom affair. • Top 10 Things Brides Regret When Buying Bridal Shoes – Advice from a Westminster, Maryland Wedding Venue Owner

White cowboy boots in a Westmister, Maryland Wedding Venue The small details matter especially when it comes to the bride’s wedding attire.  As the owner of Montagu Meadows, a barn wedding venue located in Westminster, MD, I have seen many shoe trends over the years.  I realize when planning your wedding, you might not think about the small details like shoes.  It might not be the first thing on your mind but this detail that can have a big impact. From how you walk down the aisle to how long you survive on the dance floor, your bridal shoes play a huge role in your comfort and confidence on the big day. Unfortunately, many brides overlook key details, leading to some common regrets. To help you avoid painful blisters, last-minute stress, and mismatched footwear, here are the top 10 things brides regret when buying bridal shoes and how you can sidestep them.   1. Waiting Until the Last Minute to Buy Your Wedding Shoes One of the most common regrets brides face is leaving their shoe purchase too late. Brides tend to be worried about finding the perfect venue to the perfect dress.  As the owner of Montagu Meadows, I recommend purchasing your dress Comfortable Flats are great in outside, country wedding venues first and then start finding the perfect pair of shoes right after.  Your dress fittings often require you to have your shoes so that hem adjustments can be made accurately. Waiting until the final weeks before your wedding means you’re rushed, have fewer options, and risk not having time to properly break in your shoes. Start shopping early!   2. Choosing Wedding Shoes That Don’t Match the Dress It might sound obvious, but many brides fall in love with a pair of shoes and forget to consider whether they complement the style and length of their gown. A vintage lace dress might not pair well with ultra-modern stilettos. Similarly, heavily embellished shoes might clash with a sleek satin gown. Always consider your dress’s material, color, and vibe when shoe shopping.   3. Not Considering the Wedding Venue Your wedding location should heavily influence your footwear. For example, stiletto heels are a disaster on a grassy field or in a rustic barn where wood Beaded Wedding Bridal Shoes slats and stone paths are common. Outdoor venues call for wedges, block heels, cowboy boots or flats that won’t sink into the ground. Think function, comfort, and fashion when factoring in your venue.   4. Failing to Try the Wedding Shoes On Buying shoes online without trying them on first can be a gamble. Sizing varies between brands, and even if they technically fit, they may pinch, rub, or simply not feel secure. Always try shoes on and walk around in them to ensure they’re comfortable and the right fit for your foot shape. And yes, try on both feet!   5. Wearing Uncomfortable Wedding Shoes No matter how beautiful they are, shoes that hurt your feet will turn your dream day into painful ones. Keep in mind that you’ll be standing, walking, and dancing in them for hours. Look for cushioning, arch support, and secure straps. And you do not have to compromise on style. Designers are increasingly using innovative materials to ensure high quality and comfort.  Trust me your feet will thank you later.   6. Forgetting a Spare Set of Shoes Having a second pair of shoes can be a game-changer. Many brides opt for a pretty pair of heels for the ceremony and photos, then switch to flats, sandals, or sneakers for the reception. Don’t assume you’ll be fine in one pair all day.  Plan for comfort as the hours stretch on. I always suggest choosing a  fun or personalized second-shoe options for the dance floor.   7. Ignoring Heel Height and Walking Ease You might be used to heels, but if you’re not, your wedding day isn’t the time to The perfect bridal shoes for an outdoor wedding venue located in Westminster, Maryland test your endurance. Very high heels can make walking gracefully difficult, especially on uneven surfaces. Remember, you’ll be walking down the aisle, taking photos, and possibly navigating stairs. Choose a heel height that feels stable and natural for you.   8. Prioritizing Looks Over Practicality Some brides go for style over substance and pick ornate shoes that look great in photos but are impractical to wear. Think beading that catches on your dress, slippery soles, or shoes that require constant adjustment. Gorgeous shoes are great, but if you’re fussing with them all day, it’s not worth it.  If you really want the ornate shoes, just wear them for pictures.   9. Not Wearing Them Before the Big Day New shoes need breaking in, especially if you plan to wear them for hours. Wear them around the house, on carpets, or even to a bridal shower to get used Comfortable wedding shoes to how they feel. This also helps soften the material and reduce the risk of painful blisters.  But remember try to keep them clean for your special day.   10. Overlooking Weather Conditions For outdoor weddings, weather plays a major role. Rain can turn grassy aisles into muddy messes, and heat can cause feet to swell. Keep the forecast in mind and consider backup options like heel protectors or weather-appropriate footwear if needed. Flexibility is key.   Your bridal shoes may be small in size, but they carry a lot of weight. By planning ahead, keeping comfort in mind, and thinking about your dress and venue, you can find shoes that support you every step of the way. The best bridal shoes are the ones that make you feel beautiful and allow you to enjoy your day without a second thought!   Our History, Your Love Story – Montagu Meadows, an Historic Barn Wedding Venue in Westminster, MD Looking for a stunning affordable Maryland barn wedding venue? • How to Choose Colors for Your Wedding: A Guide to Creating Your Dream Palette in Carroll County, Maryland

Wedding Color Pallete Congratulations, you are engaged! We at Montagu Meadows, a barn wedding venue in Westminster, Maryland are so excited for your journey.   We suggest take some time to enjoy being engaged and when the time is right, start planning your special day. Remember this experience should be fun and full of love.  One of the most exciting parts of wedding planning is choosing your color palette. The colors you pick will influence everything from your invitations to your bridesmaids’ dresses, your flowers, table linens, and even your cake. But with so many beautiful shades and endless combinations, how do you decide? The truth is, there are no hard rules when it comes to selecting wedding colors. It’s your day and your colors should reflect your style, personality, and the feeling you want your wedding to evoke. Here’s a guide to help you choose colors for your wedding that feel cohesive, intentional, and perfectly you. 1. Start with Your Wedding Venue Before you fall in love with any one color, consider the space where you’ll be Wedding Party in the Orchard in Carroll County, Maryland saying “I do.” Your wedding venue plays a big role in setting the overall vibe and can naturally guide your color choices. For example, if you’re getting married at a rustic barn (like Montagu Meadows), earthy tones like sage green, warm neutrals, light pinks and blues and terracotta will feel right at home. For a ballroom affair, deep jewel tones or soft romantic pastels might suit the space better.   Take note of the existing colors in the venue which should include the walls, flooring, lighting, and landscape. You don’t have to match these exactly, but choosing a palette that complements them will create a more harmonious look in photos and décor.   2. Think About the Wedding Season:  Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer Weddings Each season offers its own natural palette. While you can absolutely buck the trends, seasonal colors often feel most natural and cohesive with your First Look with the bridesmaids surroundings.                 •             Spring weddings pair well with soft, romantic shades like blush, lavender, mint, and baby blue or pink.                 •             Summer allows for bold, bright pops—think coral, fuchsia, turquoise, and sunny yellows.                 •             Fall is perfect for warm, rich hues like burgundy, rust, emerald, and burnt orange.                 •             Winter lends itself to deep tones like navy, plum, forest green, red or icy shades of silver and white.   Still, don’t feel like you’re locked into one seasonal look.  Use the season as inspiration, not a rulebook.  You should love the color palette you end up choosing.   3. Be True to Your Personal Style One of the most important things to remember is that your wedding should reflect you. What colors are you drawn to in your everyday life? What do you Use of color in a Westminster, Maryland wedding wear often, or how is your home decorated? What color compliments you?  If you love neutrals, lean into a palette of soft taupes, creams, and beiges. If you’re all about vibrant, statement-making colors, go for it—just find a way to balance them so they don’t feel overwhelming.   Also, think about the mood you want to create. Do you want a romantic, ethereal atmosphere? Try dusty rose, sage, and champagne. A playful, modern wedding? Consider teal, tangerine, and crisp white. A moody, elegant vibe? Go for black, burgundy, and gold.   4. Keep Things Cohesive Once you’ve narrowed down your core color, build a palette around it by choosing complementary shades. Aim for a combination of 2–4 colors. You might have one or two primary colors and then an accent or two to add depth. Using different shades of the same color can also create a layered, sophisticated effect. Color harmony matters. Soft pink looks beautiful with sage green and ivory. Navy pairs well with blush and gold. Burgundy loves dusty blue and grey. Explore combinations using color palette tools or mood boards on Pinterest.     5. Ask Your Wedding Florist and Use Pinterest Brides have two great sources for advice on color schemes.  If you are using a Florist, they are experts on blending different colors together.  Not only do they have an eye for color, but they know what’s in bloom during your wedding season.  So, pick up the phone and make an appointment with your florist about what flowers will be available and how they align with your palette. For instance, if you love lilacs but you’re getting married in late summer, they might not be an option.   Pinterest is a goldmine for wedding inspiration. Type in phrases like “boho fall wedding colors” or “romantic spring wedding palette,” and you’ll find endless mood boards, real wedding photos, and ideas for how to pull everything together.   6. Don’t Worry About the Wedding Rules Here’s the thing: your wedding is your canvas, and it should be what you envision.  While color theory and seasonal trends are helpful, you don’t have to follow any rules. Want to use neon pink and electric blue? Do it. Want a black dress and white flowers? Go for it. Want a rainbow of bridesmaids in different hues? Gorgeous.   Sometimes the most beautiful and memorable weddings are the ones where the couple threw the “rules” out the window and chose colors that simply made them happy.   7. Test It Out   Before committing, test your palette in real life. Order fabric swatches or paint sample cards and lay them out together. Try incorporating the colors in your table mockups, floral samples, or invitation proofs. Seeing how the shades work together in different lights will help you feel confident in your decision.  Also bring your color palette to your wedding venue walk through just in case you want to make some minor changes a couple of months ahead of your wedding.     Your wedding colors don’t just guide your décor. They set the tone for your day. These colors will be in every one of your photos and will help to create beautiful memories of your special day.  Whether you’re going with bold and dramatic, soft and romantic, or light and airy, choose colors that speak to who you are and what your love story represents. At the end of the day, the best color palette is the one that makes you smile. So take a deep breath, have fun with the process, and remember there is no wrong choice when it comes to love or color. It's all about what you want and love.   Our History, Your Love Story – Montagu Meadows, an Historic Barn Wedding Venue in Westminster, MD Looking for a stunning affordable Maryland barn wedding venue?
