Looking back over the years, I (owner of Montagu Meadows Wedding Venue) have always looked forward to Thanksgiving. It is a holiday built around gratitude, togetherness, tradition, and taking a moment to slow down and appreciate the people who mean the most to us: family. There’s something undeniably magical about Thanksgiving. The leaves have fallen and there is a little chill in the air. It’s a holiday that does not include material gifts. It’s a holiday filled with a cozy mix of good food, warm homes, and families gathered under one roof, it naturally creates the ideal atmosphere for meaningful moments and this includes one of life’s biggest: getting engaged. I can't wait to hear about the Thanksgiving engagements.
If you’ve ever considered a holiday proposal, here are some reasons why Thanksgiving stands out as one of the best times of year to pop the question.
First, Thanksgiving Is All About Meaning and Gratitude
At its core, Thanksgiving is centered on gratitude and appreciating the

blessings, relationships, and moments that make life beautiful. What better time to take the next step with the person you’re most thankful for?
The holiday’s focus on love, reflection, and appreciation gives an engagement even deeper meaning. It’s not just a proposal! It’s a promise made on a day designed for deepest commitments.
Second, if You Get Engaged Before Thanksgiving… Announce It With Family!
Some couples love the idea of getting engaged right before the holiday. It gives you the chance to walk into Thanksgiving dinner with the ultimate surprise:

“We have something to be thankful for…”
Or just seeing if your family members notice the engagement ring.
Sharing the news surrounded by family (and maybe a few happy tears!) makes the moment even more memorable. You get to celebrate with your family, and you will have to make less phone calls, no repeating the story 20 times, just pure joy and support from your favorite people.
Third Propose During Thanksgiving surrounded by your Loved Ones Right There
Others choose to pop the question on Thanksgiving Day itself. Whether it’s a quiet moment before dinner, during dessert, or even in a fun, creative family tradition, you’re guaranteed a proposal filled with warmth and excitement.
And the best part? Your family and close friends are already there to witness and celebrate. No planning a party. No coordinating schedules. Just an unforgettable moment shared with the people who already love your relationship.
Forth, You Get to Enjoy the Magic of the December Holidays Engaged
Once the Thanksgiving proposal glow settles, you get to step right into the sparkiest, most romantic part of the year - the December holidays-engaged! And honestly, it doesn’t get better than that. Just another reason to celebrate!
Think of it:
• Holiday lights feel brighter

• Every Christmas market becomes a date night
• Work parties suddenly become the place to show off the ring
• Family gatherings shift into “…so when’s the wedding?”
• New Year’s Eve becomes your first kiss of the new chapter in your life.
The whole season turns into one extended celebration of your love story.
Thanksgiving isn’t just about turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie. It’s about gratitude, family, love, and the people who make life meaningful. That’s what makes it one of the most memorable times to get engaged.

Whether you announce the big news before the holiday, propose during the festivities, or simply enjoy the December season newly engaged, a Thanksgiving engagement wraps your love story in warmth and tradition.
